OBJ to STL converter

OBJ files from Blender or a game usually lie on their back and come in odd sizes. We stand them up for printing and let you set the size in mm.

Why OBJ files print wrong

  • They lie on their back. OBJ exports usually treat Y as up, and slicers use Z. Stand it upright fixes that.
  • OBJ files don't say what unit they use. Blender writes them in metres, so a 10 cm figure can arrive as 0.1 mm. If it looks tiny, type the height you want.
  • They often aren't solid. Game and render models can have open bottoms or loose bits. Run the STL through the repair tool if your slicer complains.

Textures and the .mtl fileYesNo

STL is shape only, so colour has to come from your filament or slicer painting.

How it works

  1. 1Drop your OBJ in the box.
  2. 2Leave "Stand it upright" on if it came from Blender or a game. Type a height in mm if the size is off.
  3. 3Click Download STL.

Questions people ask

Checked October 2026

Do my files get uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser. The file never leaves your computer, so it works for client files and unreleased designs too.
Why does my model come out lying down?
OBJ files usually treat Y as up. Blender's OBJ export does this by default, and so do most game tools. Slicers treat Z as up. Keep "Stand it upright" on and we rotate it for you.
Do textures come across?
No. STL has no colour or texture, just the shape. If you want colour, print in multiple filaments and paint it in your slicer.
