Why FBX models come out the wrong size

FBX files say how big one unit is. Blender, Maya and 3ds Max all use different defaults. We read that value, so most files come out right.

If it's still off by 10 or 100 times, pick the unit by hand or type the height you want.

Pose the character in Blender first if you want it printed doing something.

How it works

  1. 1Drop your FBX in the box.
  2. 2We read the unit from the FBX itself. If the size still looks 10 times off, pick the unit by hand.
  3. 3Click Download STL.

Questions people ask

Checked October 2026

Do my files get uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser. The file never leaves your computer, so it works for client files and unreleased designs too.
Does it keep the pose?
It uses the pose the model is saved in (usually the T-pose or rest pose). Animations aren't used. Pose it in Blender first if you want a different one.
Old FBX files won't open.
We read FBX version 7 and newer, binary or text. Very old files (FBX 6 and earlier) need re-saving from Blender or the FBX Converter.
